Enjoy at Pandawa Beach
"Pandawa Beach" is a white sandy beach with a long beach about 1 km flanked by two small promontory on the left and right as a barrier.
This beach forms like a crescent moon when viewed from the air with a width of about 250 meters if the measurement starts from the coastline towards the land. Part of the coastal plain bounded by these hills is very steep and steep cliff heights so that people around the previous can not access to the location because it has no road to the location. That is why travelers who first discovered this beach called it the "hidden beach".
It says "hidden" because to go to the location of the beach does not have access road. It is said that some tourists who want to enjoy the beach such as sunbathing, bathing etc should use a rope to get off the cliff to reach the beach.
Since then the beach is known and spread to fellow travelers as a "hidden beach". Although now the location of the beach is no longer referred to as a hidden beach but the "title" is still mentioned because of historical factors when first discovered the location of the beach. That's a cursory term "hidden beach".
Instead, the term or name is now known as "Pandawa Beach". The name was created by locals led by Nyoman Egypt along with indigenous villagers of Kutuh.
The original idea was how to create a path to the edge. This idea was triggered only to gain access to the Pandawa Beach location. This access is required by the local people for the benefit of religious ceremonies or melasti and other ceremonies.
The initial motivation was no more than that, because at that time there was no access at all to the beach which at that time was not named or anonymous. Because the location is only a small beach whose location is limited by a steep hill.
The beach can only be seen from the edge of a steep hill, above the height of approximately 20 meters. But then after access to Pandawa Beach was formed, other potential development was born by the local community, namely seaweed cultivation.
Later ideas emerged by local communities to improve access or roads for better and more representative by cutting the cliffs (previously only small and narrow roads without asphalt). But over time, Pandawa Beach became a tourist place that many tourists visited by local tourists and foreign tourists to enjoy the beach.
Sooner or later from day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year the arrival of the number of tourists continues to increase, which in turn makes the location Pandawa Beach as one tourist destination by local tourists and foreign tourists brought by the Travel Agency or Travel Agent or Tour Guide and taxi drivers.
The original name or identity for this beach is "kutuh beach" according to the location located in Kutuh traditional village. But by the community or the natives of the local village turn it into "Pandawa Beach". Giving his name is inspired by the spirit and example of puppet character that is Pandawa itself. On the figure of the statue is described as a solid character, strong, not easily broken and shunned by his enemies. This spirit is adopted by local villagers with the hope that coastal areas Pandawa Beach can be preserved and developed into one of the strategic tourist areas and in harmony with local wisdom and can not be damage by other people or foreign investors.
Mr. Nyoman Egypt said on the sidelines of a family gathering or a joint meeting that took place starting today at pandawa beach (Saturday, April 26, 2014). Kutuh traditional village was previously part of the traditional village of Ungasan. But the struggle of the local community, led by Mr I Nyoman Egypt who was then served as a village figure in the end in 2002 this area officially broke away from the traditional village of Ungasan. After passing through the struggle and hard work for the creation of pandawa beach which has now been transformed into a strategic tourist area, indigenous villagers Kutuh begin to realize and feel the benefits and results of opening the entrance to the beach by cutting the cliff. which previously had a steep hill and had no road at all.
In gratitude for the good of nature, the local community now has a new philosophy of "cleaving the cliff to earn dollars". Now the coastal area pandawa has become a new tourist destination with economic mobilization and income per day that can be spelled out not least. Supporting tourism activities run by local indigenous villagers such as a row of kiosks along the coast that sell a variety of food and beverages, parking lots, tickets or entrance fees to beach locations, souvenir sales and other activities, have made this area into a new, notabene is the impact of visits of tourists to Pandawa Beach.
